COMUNIDAD

WE ARE ALL ABOUT COMMUNITY

Chicago’s Little Village community is home to the original Los Comales location. We pride ourselves in the rich history and culture of our neighborhood and in the relationships we’ve built with our patrons and the community over the years. From participating in the city’s annual Mexican Independence Day Parade to sponsoring special events around town, Los Comales knows what it means to build with and be a part of a community.

RECENT PROJECTS

SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY,
DONATION TO SAINT ANTHONY'S HOSPITAL

At Los Comales, our commitment to the community goes beyond serving delicious, authentic Mexican cuisine. We believe in giving back to the community that has supported us through the years, and we are proud to announce our recent donation to Saint Anthony's Hospital. This contribution is part of our ongoing efforts to support local organizations and initiatives that make a positive impact on the lives of our neighbors.

Saint Anthony's Hospital has been a cornerstone of our community, providing essential healthcare services and support to countless families. We are honored to contribute to their mission and assist in their efforts to enhance the well-being and health of our community members.

Our donation to Saint Anthony's Hospital is just one example of how Los Comales strives to make a difference. From supporting local schools and food pantries to sponsoring community events and cultural celebrations, we are dedicated to fostering a stronger, healthier, and more connected community.

LOS COMALES X CASA HUMILDE COLLABORATIVE PROJECT

Los Comales joined forces with Chicago brewery Casa Humilde and local design studio Izcalia to craft a special 50th-anniversary commemorative beer can. This collaboration celebrated Los Comales’ rich heritage and commitment to quality and tradition with an innovative design to create a unique and memorable tribute to their five decades of service. Design elements that represent Los Comales such as the blue agave plant, which is native to the state of Jalisco—where Los Comales’ founder Camerino Gonzalez was from—were incorporated into the design. Additionally, a photo of Camerino was included in the design as a tribute to his legacy in making Los Comales the flourishing business and community staple that it is today.

BALLET FOLKLÓRICO XOCHITL

Los Comales was a proud 2023 sponsor of Ballet Folklórico Xochitl, a traditional Mexican dance studio located in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood. The mission of Ballet Folklórico Xochitl is to promote an educational and cultural environment for children in the community to learn traditional Mexican dance.

Ballet Folklórico Xochitl has been featured in numerous city-wide and community events including the Mexican Independence Day Parade and Los Comales’ Cinco de Mayo and 50th Anniversary events, among others.

MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE

Chicago’s iconic Mexican Independence Day Parade takes place on Little Village’s 26th Street. During the most recent Mexican Independence Day Parade, Los Comales led the festivities with dancing horses, Ballet Folklórico Xochitl, and a large decorated float. It was an afternoon to remember!

LOS COMALES MURAL AT OUR OG LOCATION

We recently commemorated our 50th anniversary with a mural created by community artists. The mural celebrates the history and culture of the Little Village neighborhood where Los Comales was founded and also tells our story through the years. The mural’s unveiling took place during our semi centennial celebration in September.
